What Will Replace the Camaro After 2023?

An era of iconic Chevrolet Camaros will likely finally come to an end in 2023. Currently, we enjoy the sixth generation Chevy Camaro, but experts are doubtful that we will see a seventh-generation. According to industry rumors and automotive news, the gas-powered Camaro is currently slated to be discontinued by 2024. As GM moves into electric vehicles and retires the Alpha platform that the Camaro is currently built on, there will likely never be a new Camaro after model year 2023.

However, as one door closes, another one opens, exciting auto enthusiasts and consumers alike for what comes next! This begs the question: what will replace the Camaro after 2023?

The Future of Chevy

GM has committed itself to an all-electric future by 2035, powered largely by their revolutionary Ultium platform. With Ultium technology, GM can comfortably power all types of vehicles, from work trucks EVs to electric muscle cars. So will the Camaro be replaced with an all-electric sports car?

The answer to that question has raised a few eyebrows. Early reports suggest that Chevy will replace the Camaro with electric performance sedan released in 2025. With the electric E-Ray set to replace the Corvette, Chevy appears to already have its fill of electric sports cars and will transform the Camaro into something entirely new.

Turning Heads

Of course, replacing a flagship muscle car with a sedan has turned some heads and caused some doubt, but Chevy enthusiasts should have faith! Following in Dodge’s footsteps, Chevy could change the Camaro from a 2-door to 4-door vehicle, just as Dodge did with the Charger. Chevy could also infuse this sedan with that iconic Camaro body style, preserving the past while also pushing into the electric future.

Or maybe, Chevy plans to do a complete turnaround and will retire the Camaro name forever! With GM’s plan for an all-electric vehicle, there are plenty of unknowns and exciting opportunities for Chevy to redefine itself.

The best news, however, comes from the promise of the Ultium platform. This incredible battery-stacking technology promises that electric vehicles will be just as good, if not better, than their current gas counterparts. The Ultium platform is strong enough to power the Silverado and the Corvette, creating a bright future for whatever the Camaro becomes.
