The Chevrolet AutoSense Power Liftgate in Florida Chevys

Living in Florida and loading groceries, beach gear, or golf clubs into your SUV should not require a juggling act. Chevrolet has refined the hands-free experience with the AutoSense Power Liftgate. This advanced feature eliminates the need for sensors under the bumper or searching for keys, making access to your cargo area simpler and more intuitive for Orange Park drivers.

How AutoSense Works

Previous generations of hands-free liftgates required you to kick your foot under the rear bumper to activate a sensor. This could be difficult if you were balancing heavy items or standing on uneven ground.

The AutoSense Power Liftgate removes the physical gesture entirely. The system recognizes the key fob in your pocket or bag as you approach the rear of the vehicle.

Approach:Walk toward the liftgate with the key fob. Alert:The vehicle will chime and the taillamps will flash to confirm it has detected you. Open:After a brief pause (to allow you to step back if needed), the liftgate opens automatically.

Customizing the Opening Height

You can adjust the liftgate to open to a specific height, which is useful for garages with low ceilings or overhangs.

  • 3/4 Mode:

Opens the liftgate to a preset, lower height to prevent it from hitting a garage door.

  • Max Mode:

Opens the liftgate fully for maximum clearance and ease of loading.

  • Off:

You can disable the power opening feature entirely if preferred.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do I need to kick under the bumper?

No. The AutoSense system relies on the proximity of the key fob rather than a motion sensor under the bumper. You simply need to stand near the rear of the vehicle with the key.

Can I stop the liftgate from opening if I am just walking by?

Yes. The system gives you a visual (taillamp flash) and audible (chime) warning before opening. If you walk away or step out of the zone during this warning, the liftgate will remain closed. You can also press the button on the liftgate handle to cancel the opening.

Will it open if the car is locked?

Yes, as long as you have the key fob with you. The system verifies the key is present before unlocking and opening the liftgate.
